Movie VS Book
Face it, it is impossible to transform a book compleatly onto the screen.
Never can a movie capture the emotions of a book. Scarletts life and actions seems more easy on the screen, for us that have read
the book knows that it was not this easy. Also all references to the Ku Klux Klan were removed in the movie.
Alot of things were simplyfied in order to make things work.
In the novel it was Honey Wilkes that was supposed to marry Charles Hamilton, not India as in the movie.
The movie leaves out the few days Charles and Scarlett shared before he went of to war. In the novel, it is during theese few days
that Scarlett becomes pregnant with their son Wade.
In the novel it is Scarlett that first gives her weddingring to the cause, in the movie it is Melanie. This is made to make the Melanie
character even more unselflish.
In the novel Scarletts sister Suellen had the blame for their fathers death, in the movie this is not mentioned.
Scarlett had in the novel a daugther with Frank Kennedy, Ella Lorena.
